Drafhouse Alamo to the opening in Texas. The Austin-based independent theater network has received permission from Governor Greg Ebbot to resume operations, but with strict restrictions. Cinemas, restaurants and other shops will reopen on Friday, but Drafthouse will hold out for the time being.

Greg Abbott announced a new phase of plans to revitalize the Texas economy after a week of closure in the interest of public health. Part of this plan includes theatres that have been almost completely closed in the US since mid-March, with the exception of a few tours. The Drafthouse Alamo closed all its seats in mid-March. In a statement released after Abbott’s statement, the Alamo Drafthouse should have said so.

We won’t open our theatres in Texas this weekend. Secure opening is a very complex project, with countless new procedures and devices, all of which require intensive training. This is something we cannot and will not do by chance or quickly. But know that when we open, we will provide the safest experience for our staff and guests, and we look forward to seeing you all again.

Major broadcasters such as AMC Theaters, Regal and Cinemark have also decided to stay in states like Georgia, where bookings from home have been eased in an effort to boost the economy. Although customer safety is an important part of the equation, from a business point of view it is also a question of feasibility. In Texas, theatres and other companies will only be able to operate with a maximum capacity of 25% to maintain social distance.

From a business point of view, this is already prevention, but the stock exchange sector now faces other challenges. Almost all new films come out a few months late, and on the 17th. July is always expected for Tenet Christopher Nolan. Disney Mulan is now also at the end of July. In addition, almost all other major releases, which hopefully will help to bring people back to the theatres, have been postponed until August, but not much later. While Drafthouse specializes in showing old movies, an opening without showing anything new is risky.

The Alamo Drafthouse was founded in 1997 and was a pioneer in the field of modern cinema, available at many chains with full-service dinners, beverage options and servers. Drafthouse also has a notoriously strict policy regarding the use of mobile phones and viewing accidents. The network consists of 21 locations in Texas and 41 locations in the United States. It’s only a small part of the country’s more than 5,500 theaters, and it’s the biggest for theaters in Texas. This strongly reminds us that we still have a few weeks to go back to the movie. Feel free to view the full account overview of the Alamo Drafthouse on Twitter.
